WILLIAM L. HARALSON
William L. Haralson (Bill) is the principal of the firm that bears his name, William L. Haralson & Associates, Inc. (WLHA). Bill founded WLHA in May of 1981. William L. Haralson & Associates, Inc. is an economics consulting firm that specializes in market and financial feasibility studies for waterparks and other types of recreation and entertainment attractions. Bill conducted his first water attraction feasibility study in 1974 for a wave pool in Sandusky, Ohio’s Battery Park. Since that time, Bill has conducted nearly a thousand studies for wave pools, water parks and hotel/waterpark resorts. While most of his work has been in the U. S., his work has taken him to many other countries, including Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Panama, Columbia, Venezuela, Brazil, Australia, Japan, China, Greece, Spain, France, Germany Kazakhstan and Poland.
Prior to founding WLHA, Bill worked 10 years for Economics Research Associates, first in Boston, where he started that office, then in the Washington, D. C. area, then, in the Chicago area, where he started that office and, finally, in Dallas, where he started that office. Prior to working for Economics Research, Bill Worked three years as an urban planner for the consulting engineering firm, Howard, Needles, Tammen and Bergendoff in Kansas City and two years for Larry Smith & Company, a real estate consulting firm. Before that, he spent four years with General Motors, while he worked his way through college.
Bill earned two degrees in economics from the University of Missouri. His bachelor’s degree was received in 1965, while he was working for General Motors. His Master’s degree was earned in 1968, while he was working for Howard, Needles, Tammen and Bergendoff.
Over his career, Bill has written more than 100 publications, co-authored a book, entitled “Private and Public Recreation”, conducted more than 25 seminars and received numerous awards from various trade associations.
Bill and his wife, Marcia live in the Village of Alto, in the Sacramento Mountains of Central New Mexico. Their son, Ryan, has a landscaping business in the Dallas, area.
